Introduction

It is a condition which is characterized by twisting or rotation of the ovaries around its corresponding ligament or fallopian tube. It is otherwise called adnexal torsion due to involvement of other adnexal structures such as fallopian tube, ovarian suspensory ligament and utero ovarian ligament.

This condition may cause strangulation of blood vessels and lymphatics resulting into ischaemia and even necrosis of the ovary.
