Investigations

Diagnosis for Bartholin cyst relies on physical examination findings.
For Bartholin abscess, pus for Culture and Sensitivity must be performed.
If the woman is over 40 years of age, a biopsy for histopathology is to be considered to rule out malignancy.
If there are any indications of a sexually transmitted infection, endocervical and high vaginal swabs should be taken.
