Clinical features

Acute unilateral scrotal pain.

Unilateral scrotal swelling.

In sexually transmitted epididymo-orchitis there may be symptoms of urethritis or urethral discharge.

Associated urinary symptoms in case of underlying urinary tract infection.

Headache, fever and unilateral or bilateral parotid swelling if mumps is the underlying cause.

On physical Examination, findings may include testicular enlargement, tenderness, and induration. Scrotal edema and erythema may also be present.

The cremasteric reflex is normal in affected individuals

Positive Prehn’s sign, pain is relieved with elevation of the testicle.
