OBSTETRICS URINARY TRACT INFECTION (UTI) IN PREGNANCY Pathophysiology

During pregnancy, occurs dilatation of ureters as a compressional effect of gravid uterus and hormonal changes that cause urinary stasis. Urinary stasis causes overgrowth of bacteria in both lower and upper urinary tracts.
