PLACENTA PREVIA

An obstetric condition in which the placenta is implanted nearby or over the internal cervical os.

Types

Total placenta previa , in which the placenta is covers the internal cervical os entirely.

Partial placenta previa ,in which the internal cervical os is partially covered by placenta.

Marginal placenta previa, in which the edge of the placenta is at the margin of the internal cervical os.

Low-lying placenta, in which the placenta is implanted in the lower uterine segment such that the placental edge actually does not reach the internal os but is in close proximity to it.
