OBSTETRICS DIABETES IN PREGNANCY Pathophysiology

Gestational Diabetes Mellitus is said to be caused by maternal insulin resistance as a result of placental hormones such as human Placental lactogen, insulinase, oestrogen and cortisol which are antagonistic to insulin hence causing pilling up of glucose in the blood.
