Colostrum is a dark yellow liquid containing more minerals and protein, less sugar and fat, immunglobulins compared to mature milk lasting for 5 days. Nursing mother makes 600 ml of milk per day .All vitamins except K are found in human milk.
Progesterone, estrogen, placental lactogen, prolactin, cortisol and insulin stimulate the growth of the milk secreting apparatus, Prolactin stimulates milk production and Oxytocin stimulates milk expression from a lactating breast where as suckling stimulates oxytocin secretion.
