Progress of labour parameters

Cervical dilatation

Standard Cervical dilatation is 1 cm/hour and it will be depicted along the alert line.

Cervical dilatation more than 1 cm/hour is depicted left of the alert line indicating speedy progress. Cervical dilatation less than 1cm/hour is depicted left of the alert line towards or across action line indicating a slow progress of labour.

Descent of Fetal Head

Its findings are obtained by palpation of the presenting part using the rule of fifth.

Uterine contractions

They are assessed by fundal palpation for 10 minutes.

They can be classified as:

Weak(Mild ) contraction if lasts for less than 20 seconds.

Moderate contraction, if lasts between 20seconds to 40 seconds.

Strong contractions, if lasts beyond 40 seconds.
