A graph used during labour to monitor the parameters of progress of labour, maternal and fetal wellbeing, and treatment provided during labour.

Proper use of partograph has proved so useful in reduction of  both maternal and perinatal mortalities and morbidities.

Based on the evidences on its effectiveness in monitoring of labour.

WHO recommends the use of patograms in all labour wards and for all women since 1994.

 In Tanzania, it is obligatory to be used at all levels of obstetric care.
