OBSTETRICS FETAL LIE, PRESENTATION, POSITION AND ATTITUDE Mode of delivery

Longitudinal lie, spontaneous vertex delivery unless contraindicated.

Oblique lie

Favorable oblique lie, the fetal head in close to the lateral edge of the pelvic outlet. Spontaneous vertex delivery (SVD) has great chance of success.

Unfavorable oblique lie, the fetal head is located distant from the lateral edge of pelvic outlet. SVD has very little chance to succeed so Caesarean section is recommended.

Transverse lie, caesarean section is recommended.
