Treatment

lamotrigine (PO) 1-5mg/kg 12hourly for 4weeks

                                  OR 

levetiracetam (PO) 10mg/kg 12hourly for 4weeks 

                                 AND

folic acid (PO) 5mg 24hourly for 3-6months

If the patient was already on anti epileptics, keep the same  but divided dose.

In cases of polytherapy, some drugs can be eliminated leaving a patient with a single drug therapy.
