Classification

Common types of glaucoma include:

Open angle glaucoma

It is characterized by a slow and inadequate exit of aqueous humor through trabecular meshwork or Sclemm’s canal or blockage of uvealscleral tract. This will result into pressure build up in the anterior segment of the eye. It is the most common type of glaucoma making about 80% of all cases.

Closed angle glaucoma

It is characterized by a blockage of trabecular meshwork by a collapse of the iris against the cornea at the iridocorneal angle.
