As far as Hypertensive retinopathy is an ocular complication of hypertensive heart disease, the following are the risk factors:

High salt intake

Obesity

Tobacco use

Alcoholism

Family history

Stress

Ethnic background.

Poor adherence to or Failure to use antihypertensive drugs.
