Treatment

Blood transfusion in case of severe anemia OR hemaenics in case of moderate or mild anemia

Manual Vacuum Aspiration (MVA) if gestation age is below 12 weeks (inevitable, incomplete and missed abortion)

Dilatation and curettage if gestation age is above 12 weeks (inervitable,incomplete and missed abortion)

Post evacuation treatment

erythromycin (PO) 500mg 8hourly for 5days

OR

amoxicillin + clavulanic acid (PO) 625mg 8 hourly for 5days

AND

metronidazole (PO) 400mg 8hourly for 5days

AND

paracetamol (PO) 1g 8hourly for 5 days

In case of septic abortion

amoxycillin + clavulanic acid (FDC) (IV) 1.2g 8hourly for 24-48hours

AND

metronidazole (IV) 500mg 8hourly for 24–48hours

Gentle Dialatation and curretage should be done to avoid uterine perforation. 

In case of Complete abortion

Conservative treatment is done

Hematenics

Oral antibiotics to prevent infection
