Classification

Partial intestinal obstruction which is characterised by an incomplete blockage of an intestinal lumen.

Complete intestinal obstruction which is characterised by a complete blockage of an intestinal lumen.

Closed loop intestinal obstruction in which  bowel is obstructed at two points along its course, thus forming a closed loop. Refer to the image below.
