Classification based on position of the uterine fundus.
First degree (Incomplete uterine inversion)
It is a type of uterine inversion in which fundus is located inside the endometrial cavity.
Second degree (Complete inversion)
It is a type of uterine inversion in which the uterine fundus protrudes through the cervical os .
Third degree Inversion (uterine prolapse)
It is a type of uterine inversion in which the uterine fundus projects to or beyond the vaginal introitus.
Fourth degree (Total uterine and vaginal inversion)
It is a type of uterine inversion which involves of prolapse of both uterus and vagina.

Classification based on onset of presentations.
Acute uterine inversion: It occurs within first 24 hours after delivery.
Subacute uterine inversion: It occurs after first 24 hours post delivery but in less than 1 month postpartum.
Chronic uterine inversion: It occurs longer than 1 month postpartum.
